Boost for Smile’s Respite Care Centre fundraising appeal

Smile Support & Care have recently received a generous donation of £10,000 from Basepoint towards their fundraising appeal for the new Respite Care Centre, based in Waterlooville. Staff from Basepoint have presented Smile with a cheque for £10,000 as part of their ongoing support of the new short-break respite centre. Basepoint Centres provide office space to businesses across the country, and are owned by grant-giving charity The ACT Foundation.

Theresa Elliott, Head of Fundraising said: "Basepoint supported us back in 2012 with a balloon release on the site where the centre now stands, to help get the building work underway. We were thrilled to welcome them back today, to see the centre and present us with a cheque for £10,000. This contribution will fund the play equipment in the garden which will be specially adapted for severely disabled children."

Donations such as this all help to meet the fundraising target to equip the newly-built centre, and enable the charity to open for business as soon as possible.

Support from the local community is now gaining momentum and we have been contacted by several local businesses, including Maxx Media, a company close to Smile’s office base in Eastleigh. Maxx Media have kindly offered to support Smile through the use of their digital advertising boards in Portsmouth and Brighton. This will really help to spread the word about Smile and hopefully encourage support throughout Hampshire and Sussex
