Buried in the past

Last half term, Year 4 visited the stately Highclere Castle to find out more about the Egyptians. The pupils had a really good time, although the replica of Tutankhamen’s old body scared everyone as they thought it was really realistic. Yasmin thought the day was ‘epic!’

Everyone had a chance to look at artefacts to learn about life in Egyptian times. The children had thought it would be quite boring, with fake artefacts, but they were in for a surprise. They told us that they were amazed to see all the real items. Evie said, “It was awesome!” Miss Gray loved it too, and would have liked to have spent more time there, looking at the precious objects.

One of the most exciting parts of the trip was the dark room. There were little flaps leading to a tomb so as they looked inside they could see all the golden treasure in it, just like Tutankhamen’s tomb. All in all they had a phenomenal trip, and hope to go back another day.
