THE END OF WINDOWS XP

So its official, by April 8th 2014 the support will end for Windows XP SP3 and Office 2003. But why? Well it’s basically because Windows and Office products only receive 10 years of support at the supported service pack level, and Microsoft believe that after 11 years, it’s time to invest their resources into more recent technology- and thus means the inevitable farewell to one of the most innovative Microsoft systems.

Don’t panic! Windows XP SP3 and Office 2003 will still work on your PC; however, there will be no new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free or paid assisted support options or online content updates. This essentially means that by not migrating to Windows 7 or 8, your PC will be at risk from a lot more virus’ which can make your computer run extremely slowly and hackers will find it easier to access all your documents- which could have a detrimental effect on your life.

It’s not too late to start looking at updating your software to either Windows 7 or Windows 8. And we think you will prefer the new look! Microsoft can offer large organisations in-depth technical resources, tools and expert guidance to smooth the move and management of Windows, Office and Internet Explorer products and technologies. There are many advantages of moving to a modern PC:

  • Latest productivity and collaboration tools
  • Easier and much more innovative presentation with Windows 8 that allows easy access and organisation of ‘work essentials’
  • Protection from viruses, letting you secure your documents in a much safer place

Windows 8.1 sees a new era of technology arising. With the funky looking start menu and the impressive use of multitasking between programmes.

You can either update your PC or buy a new one, but a little advice from everyone here at Syn-Star is, do upgrade! You’ll never know how efficiently your computer will run if you keep it on Windows XP!
