FIRST PUPIL ARRIVES AT BEREWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL

Grainger has announced that it will be partnering with Redrow Homes for the second phase of 250 homes at its Berewood development in Waterlooville, Hampshire.

Set in over four acres of land on London Road, phase two, known as Yew Gardens, will comprise of two, three and four-bedroom homes, 98 of which will be available through Grainger’s affordable arm, the Grainger Trust. The remainder will be offered for sale.

Construction has now begun, with the first properties due to be released for sale in November and show homes scheduled to open the following month.

John Beresford, Development Director at Grainger, commented, “We are delighted to have Redrow Homes on board for the next phase at Berewood.”

“The whole community comprises 13 phases and will take 10-15 years to complete. Phase one has been extremely successful, residents are moving in and Berewood Primary school has opened its doors for the academic year. It’s such a pleasure to see our community develop.”

Berewood Primary School, the first of two schools to be built and funded by Grainger in the new community development, opened its doors for the first children in September.

The school, which is an academy supported by the University of Chichester Academy Trust welcomed 5 teachers and 62 pupils aged between 4 and 11 when it opened on Monday 8th September.

The £8 million Primary School boasts outdoor learning and play resources, including climbing and balancing equipment alongside a main hall, library, music and drama studio, and a food technology classroom.

Sue Patrick, Head teacher at Berewood Primary School, said, “It was a pleasure to welcome our new students to the school. All the teachers have been extraordinarily busy ensuring that we know our children well and that we are able to start building on their learning and development from the very start. Lessons are meticulously planned to meet their learning needs and build on their previous work, and the teachers are using a range of support material, enhanced by the new equipment and resources in the school, and enriched by the wonderful environment in which we will now all work.”

“We have also enjoyed the start of a partnership with our parents, which will support our school and our children into the future. We have held a welcome coffee morning, invited parents to curriculum meetings, and had our initial Parent Teacher Association meeting.”

“Together as a staff we are proud to be the team building the foundations for this new school and supporting the growth of the new Berewood community. We are excited by the task ahead, are planning for a successful future, and will welcome all to our new school. We are grateful too to everyone who has helped the school reach this point; the architects, builders, designers, surveyors and decorators, and we look forward to sharing our school with them at our official opening later this term. We are indeed on our Journey to Excellence!”
