The Friends of Havant Cemeteries

Friends of Havant CemeteriesThe Friends of Havant Cemeteries are volunteers who meet once a month to carry out conservation work in either the New Lane or Warblington Cemetery. We clear brambles, plant bulbs and sow seeds to encourage native plants, whilst taking care to preserve the habitat of wild flora and fauna, for example encouraging wild dark English bluebells over the pale Spanish variety.

Our tasks have included planting wild bluebell, daffodil and primrose plants at New Lane, at Warblington last year we planted 72 lavender plants to form a hedge in the northern section, and more recently 600 wild flower plants to mark the natural burial area. The photograph shows volunteers planting plug plants at Warblington Cemetery.
