New DI Andy Horton Crime Novel

Hayling author's Portsmouth Copper returns in new DI Andy Horton Crime Novel

The eleventh in the series of police procedural crime novels featuring the flawed and rugged, DI Andy Horton by Internationally acclaimed British crime writer and Hayling Island resident Pauline Rowson, Shroud of Evil, is published by Severn House (30 April 2014).

Pauline Rowson has been hailed as "redefining the genre of the police drama” by setting it against the atmospheric backdrop of the British marine landscape of Portsmouth and the Solent.

Highly acclaimed in the UK, Commonwealth and the USA, where they are also published, the DI Horton series has received excellent reviews and has also been translated into several languages, including Chinese. Pauline Rowson who lives at North Hayling says, ‘I’m New DI Andy Horton Crime Novel delighted that Andy Horton is out on the streets of Portsmouth and crossing the Solent to the Isle of Wight to solve another crime. Placing the crime novels against the backdrop of the sea has many advantages. It is never constant. In one day it can change from being calm to turbulent. It is also dangerous, misleading and evil like many villains, and although it can look safe, beneath can be a sandbank, a rock, a wreck, a dangerous current all of which can cause havoc and kill, and be used to good effect in a crime novel. It also provides a great backdrop for pace and great settings for a climax, which, of course, I’ve used in Shroud of Evil.'

Married to a former fire fighter from Red Watch, Southsea Pauline Rowson was first published in 2006 and has now had published thirteen crime novels, including two thrillers, all set in the Portsmouth, Hayling Island, the Isle of Wight and surrounding area.

In Shroud of Evil DI Andy Horton of Portsmouth CID is assigned the case of a missing person: Jasper Kenton, a private investigator. When Kenton’s car turns up, and a shocking discovery is made, things turn serious and Horton finds himself embroiled in an investigation that has major personal ramifications, and one in which he has no choice but to withhold vital information.

Her books are available from all good bookshops, on line and for loan in libraries. Shroud of Evil will be published in the USA in hardcover in August 2014 when it will also be released as an e book and available on Kindle, Nook and Kobo.
