Park Community School

much more than just a school

“At Park we will be at your child’s side every step of the way, guiding them as their character develops and as they make their own discoveries about what they love.”
Christopher Anders, Headteacher

Farm
We lease farm land and on it we have established a smallholding. Here we grow vegetables and rear animals for meat. The vegetables and meat are used in the school kitchen, not only promoting healthy eating but also allowing students to make the connection with what they eat and where and how it is grown.

Younger students are taught horticulture and a year 9 class have just begun an accredited RHS course.

Apex Centre
Our most recent addition to school facilities is the Apex Centre in Leigh Park. The centre has several large workshops, garage and classroom spaces. We are currently refurbishing the Apex to become our Construction Skills Centre.

This will provide students practical hands-on courses, helping those who wish to work in the construction or automotive industries.

Industrial Unit
Based at our industrial unit in Leigh Park, Park Design and Print is a commercial digital printing company that not only provides all of the reprographic needs for the school but also offers printing services to both businesses and the local commuity.

This provides opportunities for children to learn outside the classroom and gain work experience and employability skills for their life after school.

Pre-School
Opened in September 2015 we now have a purpose built nursery and pre-school on site. Springwood Park Nursery and Pre-School offers quality childcare and education 51 weeks a year to children from 0-5. We offer fun, interesting and challenging play and experiences for all children.

Our fantastic school site allows our children to experience “school life” having access to the school restaurant to eat home cooked meals, access to the school playing field to visit the school goats, or learn to care for animals in the school petting zoo.
