PRIZE POETRY COMPETITION 2015

Havant Literary Festival

The theme for this year's HLF) competition is “Boundary”. Poets may interpret that theme in any way they choose.

You can enter as many entries as you like which will be adjudicated by Joan McGavin. Each entry attracts a fee of £4.00. Each poem or group of poems submitted must be accompanied by a completed and signed entry form. If you are submitting more than four poems please list the additional titles on a separate sheet of paper and attach this to the entry form.

All entries must be entirely original work and must not have been previously published, nor must they be published after submission before 31st October 2015. Poems must not be shared previously with any member of the HLF committee or the judge, nor recorded or reproduced on any website, blog or social media site. HLF reserve the unconditional right not to accept any entry.

Poems should be limited to 40 lines only. Shorter poems are also most welcome. Entries must be in English, typed single spaced on A4, single-sided and securely fastened; each entry starting on a new sheet.

Entries will be disqualified if they show name, address or identifying marks other than the title.

Entries are not returned, so please keep a copy. No corrections can be made after receipt, nor fees refunded.

The closing date for entries is Friday 25th July 2015 and no entries received after this time will be accepted.

First Prize £400 - Second Prize £200 - Third Prize £100

In addition, the judge may choose up to 10 commended poems. Prize-winners and commended poets will be informed at least two weeks before the public reading. A full list of winners and commended persons will be published on the HLF website.

Prize winning and commended poets will be invited to a public reading event in Havant in September 2015 – exact date to be announced. The prize winners will be offered short readings to include their winning entry

The copyright of the entries remains throughout with their authors. However, by entering a poem, the author gives the HLF the unrestricted right to publish or have read publicly the poem, in whatever media or manner the HLF feels appropriate without any royalties being due.
