Report on my work locally and in Westminster

Every year I host my Havant MP Jobs, Apprenticeships and Careers Fair to help local residents.

My Fair joins up our talented workforce with the numerous successful businesses that operate in our constituency, many of which are just looking to find the right talent to expand and grow our thriving local economy.

Recently, I met Mark Wilson and Becky Webb, two carers from Right at Home in Havant who found work after visiting my Jobs Fair in 2017. Two years on, both have not only stayed, but just been promoted to more senior roles.

It was brilliant to see them not only finding work but excelling and enjoying a career they never expected to pursue.

I’m sure there will be more success stories similar to Mark and Becky’s at my Jobs Fair 2019, taking place at Havant Leisure Centre on Friday 15 March from 10am to 2pm.

This year’s event is set to be even bigger and better, with 60 exhibitors offering hundreds of jobs and apprenticeships in addition to CV workshops and careers advice.

So whether you are looking for a job, thinking about changing career, starting an apprenticeship or seeking careers advice, I encourage you to come on the day. Admission and parking are free, residents can drop-in at any point, and stay for any length of time.

Employability workshops, provided by the National Careers Service, will also be taking place. There will also be CV building workshops at 10.15am and 12.15pm, and job interview technique workshops at 11.15am and 1.15pm.

Exhibitors attending this year include Stagecoach, Airbus, Colt International, Superdrug, McDonald’s, Fasset, L&S Waste Management and Eaton Hydraulics.

I look forward to seeing many residents on the day, and hearing from more people who have gone onto success as a direct result of attending.
