The Spring

Open Exhibition

Local artists and craftspeople were invited to contribute their work to an Open Exhibition based around the theme of ‘Women, Suffrage and Art’ to celebrate 100 years since women first won the right to vote.

Twenty artists entered, with seventeen being chosen to display a total of twenty-three pieces of artwork.

Following a special private view the winner of the competition for best work on display was announced by Director Sophie Fullerlove. The winning artist was Agata Wojcieszkiewicz with her artwork Labour (Self Portrait) below.

The judging panel included Peter Hammond and Clare Jefferson-Jones, who also curated the exhibition. The Spring would like to also thank Barbara Howard for collating the information on the research boards displayed in the gallery.

The exhibition will be available for viewing until Thursday 29 June in the Upper Mezzanine Gallery at the Spring.
