Bowlers get fit for new season

As winter turns into spring a large group of Hayling's finest bowlers took to the highways and byways in a last minute attempt to regain some fitness before the rigours of the summer bowling season. Following a pleasant walk along the Billy Trail into Havant coffee was taken at The Spring before returning to Hayling and an enjoyable lunch at Meadow Farm Tea Rooms: Our thanks to them for providing 28 excellent lunches very efficiently. All the money raised from the winter walks will be donated to the club's nominated charity for 2014, the Hayling Community Responders, as well as the profit made from the fortnightly cribbage sessions that have been running all winter in the URC church hall. Additional funds for the Responders will be raised at the Charity Day on 19th July and by various other methods including some social events.

Open days are being held on Saturday 26th April and Sunday 4th May from midday until 4pm at the Community Centre, Station Road, West Town, Hayling Island. If you have flat soled shoes bring them along, if not we will improvise! Bowls will be provided if you don't already have them. Come along and have a go! Visit the web site www.haylingislandbowls.org for more information about the club.

Bowls isn't just for people who are past doing anything else, as the picture clearly shows!
