Pompey secured a much needed three points with a vital 1 – 0 win against bottom club Hartlepool. In a dour ‘six-pointer’ a moment of quality created the one chance which luckily fell to Matt Tubbs who put the cross from Ryan Taylor on the left away with aplomb. Pompey’s following fixtures at Dagenham & Redbridge on 10 February and Exeter at Fratton Park on 14 February, are both winnable if they can raise their game; perhaps by playing in a closer formation where they could find and help each other a little more readily.
