Comedy

We are really pleased with some of the comedy that is still in store for us in this Winter/Spring 2014 season. We have managed to book the likes of Jo Caulfield, Alex Horne, Mitch Benn and even Lee Nelson. All pretty big names (we feel) in the comedy world. In addition, we also program our regular Havant Comedy Club which is compered by award-winning compere Joe Wells. Joe is the recent Portsmouth News Guide Awards Best Comedy Winner 2013.

Alex Horne is here with ‘Lies’. He describes himself as a comedian, writer, gambler, birdwatcher, potential neologist and father. Alex appears on Thursday 27 February at 8pm.

Mitch Benn is the comedy musical satirist from BBC Radio 4’s ‘The Now Show’. Interestingly this show is entitled: ‘Mitch Benn is the 37th Beatle’. Mitch has a lifelong obsession with Liverpool’s most famous sons. Mitch is here on Friday 11 April at 8pm.

And then of course we have booked the legend that is Lee Nelson. His website says: “All right you bunch of legends I got some qwaliteeeee news…Lee Nelson is back! But this time I ain’t in no BBC studio, I’m taking all of yous on to my south London estate to check out life with my missus Amber, my little boy Stairwell and my step brother Damo.” Lee Nelson is booked for Thursday
15 May at 7.30pm.

Finally, we have our regular Havant Comedy Club evenings (Sat 8 Feb from 8pm) - the next one is headlined by guitar wielding satirist Steve Gribbin with support from Tom Toal, Dan Biswas and Daniel Edison. Daniel is only 17 years old.

JEWELLERS’ SHOWCASE

Until Saturday 31 May 2014
The Jewellers’ Showcase is a new show bringing top British designer jewellers from across the UK.

Our first showcase features the work of Donna Collinson whose organic pebble-like-pieces are so tactile you’ll love to wear them. Alongside this we showcase the quirky work of Shelley Thomas who brings blacksmithing techniques to jewellery, creating work which has a uniquely industrial edge. In contrast, Sally Pawson’s light and pretty aluminium jewellery bedecked with polka dots is the epitome of femininity, and Jenni Wilson’s fun silver figurative jewellery is sure to raise a smile.
