Goodbye to Victoria the Last Queen Empress 19/05/2014 5pm to 6.30pm. Tickets £2 available from the library. Cost: Tickets £2 In 1901 one of the most elaborate funerals of all time occurred upon the death of Queen Victoria. The funeral involved over 25 reigning monarchs, three different railway company's, meticulous planning and attention to detail. The evening will consist of a powerpoint production telling the story of her last journey and will conclude with a very short film of the funeral, a colour film of the Royal Coach and a chance to hear one of the few known recordings of Queen Victoria's voice. Copies of the speakers book 'Goodbye to Victoria, the Last Queen Empress' will also be available after the talk.

A talk on Tudor medicine By Trevor Sapey of The Mary Rose Trust Trevor Sapey left school to join the Royal Navy and then joined the police in which he served for 30 years. On leaving the police he became the manager of the Mary Rose museum in the old building. Shortly after, Trevor gained an MSc with Portsmouth University in Heritage and Museum Studies where his research focused on special needs and museums which lead to his current role as the Community Engagement, Outreach and Access Officer for the Mary Rose Trust.
